Liu An Hei Cha, is a type of fermented tea from Liu An, Anhui Province, China. It is sometimes also referred to as "Liu An Basket Tea," as it is traditionally stored and transported in bamboo baskets.
During the fermentation process, the tea undergoes a microbial transformation that gives it its characteristic dark color and complex flavor profile which is similar to Shou puerh.
Many years of aging have resulted in a tea with a rich, complex and earthy flavor.
