2004 Xiaguan FT 8653 3+1
The FT (Fei Tai) company first ordered the 8653 in 2003, so this 2004 version is an early classic from its second year of production. The Xiaguan 8653 cakes have a similar significance as 7542 cakes to Dayi. The 8653 cakes are Xiaguan’s most popular puerh product. The 2004 FT 8653 3+1 cake is considered to have a special ‘wild nectar’ fragrance that sets it apart from Xiaguan’s other products. It is rumored that the raw material for this tea includes wild tea in the blend. This cake also contains material from 2003, before the restructuring era. After close to 20 years of aging, this tea has developed a pleasant astringency that is noticeable on the cheeks and tongue and a deep lasting sweetness that develops in the throat.
