Tie Guan Yin (ecologically grown) Winter 2020
Tie Guan Yin (ecologically grown) Winter 2020
$29.22
Floral and dried fruit notes with hints of honey and incense and a deep hui gan
This is Zhen Cong Tie Guan Yin. Zhen Cong can be translated to mean "original bush". These are descendants of the plants that were brought from China to Taiwan by tea master Zhang Nai Miao in the late 19th century. Because the growing area in Maokong is very small, variations of Tie Guan Yin from other tea varietals and outlying growing areas are more easily found but are not the classic Taiwanese Tie Guan Yin. The real Zheng Cong Tie Guan Yin offered here, is only produced in limited amounts on a small ecological farm in the hills of Maokong.
This ecologically grown Tie Guan Yin is sustainably grown in a pristine, secluded valley in a lush forest, concealed from the hustle and bustle of Maokong's tourist industry.
Zheng Cong Tie Guan Yin has a rich flavor and deep aftertaste that lingers at the back of the throat. The pleasant aroma drifts up to the sinuses. It also has floral, acidic fruit, honey and notes of incense. Subsequent brews have a subtle mineral finish. To taste the full range of flavors from this traditionally produced tea you can leave the second and third steepings to cool which will change the fragrance and flavor.
