I made this with the intention of incorporating aspects of the local landscape into my teaware. It is covered with a slip made of wild clay which adds a coarse texture and pleasing red-brown color to the plate.
This plate will pair well with a small yixing-type teapot. It would also work well with a gaiwan or shibo. I don't recommend it for a side-handle teapot because the rim of the plate comes close to the handle making it potentially awkward to pick up.
