This gaiwan has a satin white glaze that is silky to the touch. This convenient set is perfect for solo drinking. The glaze has some crackles that will stain with use, enhancing its beauty over time. This is one of my favorite glazes for its effect on tea brewing. I think it works well with any tea. I use it with everything from green oolong to puerh and everything in between with good results.
