wild clay teapot w/ wood handle 140ml

This teapot is made from 100% wild harvested clay. The iron-rich, coarse-textured dark brown clay is manually harvested in small batches from the pristine mountains around The Jade Leaf studio. Fired at 1250°C, the clay is well vitrified.

We've developed a new glaze to pair with this clay. The pale-blue color of this glaze reminds us of the sky after a summer rain. The wild clay reacts intensely with the glaze creating spots that emerge through the glaze. This clay and glaze combination creates plenty of crackles in the glaze that will stain beautifully over time.

Each piece of wood is carefully cut and carved by hand to create a one-of-a-kind comfortable handle. Each handle is then finished with a waterproof sealer before being permanently attached to the pot.

The pot is unglazed inside and has a 7 hole filter behind the spout.

We have found this clay to be excellent for roasted oolongs, puerh and black tea. Because of the high firing temperature, this clay is well vitrified and we've even been using it with greener teas and having good results. We'd love to hear from you which teas you think go best with this clay.
